“Test” students in Handshake

Since 2017, Kalamazoo College has partnered with Handshake – a modern career development platform – to connect students with our career coaches, career events, company peer reviews and Q&A, summer opportunities, jobs after college, and more. Since our transition to Handshake, we have seen an over 90% adoption rate by students, who seem to use the program regularly.

Faculty also now have access to a “test” student account. A “test” student account is the best way to experience firsthand what students see in Handshake. It also enables you to readily explore jobs and events – and share those links with the students you regularly work with! To log in to your Handshake account, please visit: kzoo.joinhandshake.com and log in with your email address and password. From there, you’ll be onboarded just as a student would, and you can explore opportunities right along with your students. For help using Handshake, please visit the Handshake Help Center.

Keep in mind: Handshake will start to recommend jobs and data for any student account based on their profile details (major, etc), the explicit industry questions we ask during on-boarding, and the implicit data gathered by the types of jobs they are viewing and searching form. If you complete your test student’s profile details with a representative student population in mind, you’ll continue to see more relevant postings.

Note: If you are not interested in using Handshake, you can simply ignore it. Your test student account is not listed as an active student, and thus will not get “counted” in our reporting. You can simply ignore/block emails that you are sent from the platform.
